DNA World Pet Registry, http://www.dnaworldpetregistry.com/ , is an online international pet registry that allows dog breeders to display DNA test results regarding the parentage of their pups, along with other relevant information about the dogs they breed and sell. And new dog owners may use the registry to confirm that their new pets are indeed the progeny they paid for.
To be listed in the registry, the dog must be tested using a DNA collection kit such as the DNA Proof of Parentage. The kit very affordable and can be purchased on their website.
DNA Proof of Parentage – $32.00/dog
The service also offers the DNA Pet ID kit for $25, which is marketed to pet owners as a form of pet identification. This test DOES NOT identify the breeds present in your dog or verify parentage.

I was working on a few marketing tasks for a Bernese Mountain dog breeder website I just completed and ran across a logo for the PAWS Breeders Club. I visited the website and was intrigued.
Here is the description from the website:
Finally… a plan with coverage specifcally for independent Breeders. The maximum benefit illness payout
is $1000.00 or the Purchase Price of the pet, whichever is less. Our plan covers every illness listed in every puppy
lemon law in the United States, and in some states, even more. Incorporating this program into your kennel is easy, just include it in the price of every pup and be able to offer more to your consumer.
If the company pays claims like they should, I think this is a wonderful tool for dog breeders (both large and small kennel sizes) and a great selling point for puppy buyers. Offering a warranty with a puppy purchase really does offer piece of mind to buyers, especially those who are purchasing their puppy from out of state.

Interesting piece about how the economy is impacting both dog breeders and the show dog circuit.
“Of course, it’s not only handlers who are seeing their business plummet. Breeders are struggling as well. Breeders are key to the dog-show circuit because pups from top-ranked show dogs fetch higher prices. The problem is that fewer people are willing to shell out the cash for prime-time purebreds.
In the not-so-distant past, Bridgefort said, there would be a waiting list to buy a Yorkshire terrier for $2,000.
“Now, it’s almost impossible to sell a dog,” she said.”

Puppy scam resurfaces – Dog breeders beware.
Representatives of the BBB say they’ve been getting calls from people who have fallen victim to what is now known as a puppy scam.
People will put an AD out for a young dog, get a call from a someone acting as a TTY operator, which is a hearing impaired service, and they will ask for your information so they can send you a check in the mail. The problem comes when you give out personal information. Not only will you likely get a fake check, but you could also lose your identity.
The BBB says scammers are using fake TTY services because it appears to be more reputable, but beware of anyone who wants your information over the phone or through email.
